The exciting world of collage has been part of art history since the first making of paper. However, most recently, collage has become a part of the avant-garde art scene since after the first World War. The Dadaists and the Surrealists filled work with found objects and images placed outside their original or normal contexts.
Pop artists have incorporated images from commercial media and advertising disrupting long-held conventions about subjects and materials. Modern artists have embraced the juxtaposition of images and ideas, questioning the definitions of high and low art forms, re-appropriating material into new aesthetic and conceptual contexts.
This conceptual piece entitled “The Child Within” 12” x 12 “ challenges us with its juxtaposition of images.
