Once in a while an image sparks my imagination. That was the beginnings of a piece entitled ”Such Sport”. Their work harkens back to a Mother Goose nursery rhyme.
Mother Goose was said to originate in England in the 1700’s. She appeared as an elderly Welsh woman wearing a tall hat and a shawl and was later pictured as a goose. Some say she originated in Boston. Some say her roots are based in pantomime at least 500 years ago. In any case, she still enchants and delights!
This piece entitled “Such Sport” encourages the viewer to guess which nursery rhyme is being portrayed. Creating it required a great deal of searching for just the right images. Although the scale differs from panel to panel, there is a certain unity about the pieces, as they are joined on the large panel to tell an enchanting tale. What fun!!
