Magnolias symbolize dignity and nobility. In China, they were thought to be the symbol of womanly beauty and gentleness. In the south, white magnolias reflect and emphasize the purity and nobility of a bride. On the other hand, steel is valued for it’s strength and economy.
A movie of steel magnolias, 1989, features a group of women who share the strength and gentleness of female friendship.
This fantasy piece “Steel Magnolias” 12″ x 36″ on a metallic steely background, shows the strength and vulnerability of womanhood as represented by the feminine robotics and the graceful magnolias. A playful piece. The steely silver background and gorgeous magnolia blossoms are in sharp contrast to the highly feminized robots. A vision in pink!
