The Greeks and Romans saw the seahorse as a symbol of strength and power associated with the sea God, Neptune. Chinese culture sees them as a symbol of good luck. They travel calmly and slowly, and so symbolize patience and contentment.
Interestingly the male sea horse carries and gives birth to their offspring. And the eyes of the sea horse move separately allowing it two different perspectives.
